Ontario Baseball Association Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees

OBA is proud to announce its 2025 Hall of Fame class: former MLB infielder Reno Bertoia, national team standout Tommy McKenzie, renowned historian William Humber, and longtime volunteer Alan Waffle. The induction ceremony will take place October 25 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre.

Reno Bertoia (1935–2011) played eight seasons with the Detroit Tigers and parts of four others with the Senators and Athletics. Among 271 Canadians to reach MLB, his 612 games rank 26th all-time. After his playing career, he taught in Windsor and scouted for the Tigers and Blue Jays.

Tommy McKenzie, 83, represented Canada at five international events, starred in the Intercounty Baseball League with a .315 lifetime average, and later coached multiple championship teams. He is also a member of the Waterloo Region Sports Hall of Fame.

William Humber, 75, is Canada’s foremost baseball historian, an Order of Canada recipient, and author of several acclaimed books on the sport. He has been a leading voice in connecting baseball’s roots to Canadian culture and was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.

Alan Waffle (1947–2025) dedicated nearly four decades to building grassroots baseball in Etobicoke through the Royal York League, which now serves over 1,500 players. A pioneer in expanding opportunities for girls and women, he also played a key role in securing new community facilities.
