Making Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation

Since 2003, Coaching Association of Canada has started the shift towards a National Coaching Certification Program more aimed at competencies. As you have noticed, Baseball Canada has worked hard over the last years towards the development of a more relevant, specific and facilitated program.

The new NCCP features a totally new aspect regarding certification. While the old NCCP was awarding certification when a coach was going through theory, technical and practical within one level, the new NCCP has an evaluation component attached to certification.  That new certification will also have an expiry date and coaches will be able to maintain their certification by staying active and updated.

With the transition still going on and with regards to coaches involved in the old NCCP (levels 1 to 3), we feel important coaches are exposed to the new NCCP. It is understood that coaches in the old NCCP will never lose their credits/training. However, in order for coaches in the old NCCP to be transferred in the new NCCP without going through the evaluation process (for first 3 years), Baseball Canada is asking all coaches in old NCCP to complete the Making Ethical Decision Online Evaluation at http://coach.ca/make-ethical-decisions-med--s16834

This MED Evaluation can be done in about 60-90 minutes and will allow you to become Trained or Certified in the new NCCP depending on your actual certification in the old NCCP.

In order to complete the evaluation, you will need to create an account by contacting the CAC at coach@coach.ca. You will then receive a login and temporary password in order for you to access the online evaluation. Before doing the actual test, you can complete the pre-evaluation tasks in order to get familiarized with terminology.

The CAO offers an MED module that can be taken to prepare for the online evaluation.  Please note that it does not replace the online evaluation, and coaches who choose to take the in-class module still have to complete online exam as outlined above.

The Coaches Association of Ontario has scheduled two Making Ethical Decisions course workshops with baseball coaches in mind. This module will enable coaches to complete the MED online evaluation by giving them the foundations of the decision making process. Along with the course they will receive a MED reference and coach workbook as well as credit for that module on their NCCP transcript.  Coaches can register online for the MED courses scheduled May 23 and May 24 from 8:30am to 12pm or if they require further information they can call 416-426-7427.

For more information on the courses they can visit our online calendar at http://www.coachesontario.ca/calendar/
