Ontario Baseball Association Awards Program
2024 Nomination deadline is Noon, September 25th.
Nominees must be registered with the OBA in either a Rep or Select program. Baseball Ontario will be honoring teams and individuals in the following categories:
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This award is presented in the following categories to registered OBA players. Please keep the information regarding the player to the age category they are being nominated.

- Select 13U & Below
- Select 14U & Above
PITCHER OF THE YEAR
This award is presented in the following categories to registered OBA players. Please keep the information regarding the player to the age category they are being nominated.

- Select 14U & Above
COACH OF THE YEAR
This award will be presented to an OBA registered coach, who meets the certification requirements for the division they are coaching, for outstanding service to the sport at the club, affiliate, or provincial level. The nominee will be recognized for leadership and excellence and must be a current member in good standing.

TEAM OF THE YEAR
Open to all OBA rostered teams showing outstanding achievement in the current season.

UMPIRE OF THE YEAR
- Junior (This award will be presented to an active, registered umpire with a minimum of Level 1 certification.)
- Senior (This award will be presented to an active, registered umpire with a minimum of Level 3 certification.)
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
This award will be presented to an active adult volunteer whose contributions to baseball this current year have resulted in the creation of a better environment for players. Nominees may not be active members of the OBA Board of Management, Rep Council, or Select Council.
Ontario Baseball Association would like each and every affiliate to nominate one individual from your area for the Volunteer of the Year award. Each affiliate nominee will be recognized for that nomination with the Don McKnight Volunteer Recognition Award. From that pool, one individual will be award the provincial award, the R. Jack Middlemass Volunteer of the Year award.
Guidelines for Award Nominations
Ontario Baseball Association is proud to present its Awards Program honoring its best coaches, officials, players, teams, and volunteers, for their performances and/or contributions to the sport of baseball. We invite all affiliates to nominate those individuals who deserve recognition for their performance over the past year. All nominees must be affiliated with the Baseball Ontario.
The Awards Committee reviews the applications and selects the most deserving nominee in each category. The more information the committee receives, the better they can assess your nominee.
Please read the suggested guidelines to assist you in gathering your nominee’s profile.
Please ensure your forms are returned in legible form to avoid spelling errors on certificates and awards.
Other Criteria:
- Consideration of the number of years in the OBA activities and contributions made.
- Qualifications and certifications achieved.
- Only nominations that are filled out completely will be considered.
- All nominations of members in good standing will be considered.
- Awards will be presented at our Evening of Excellence on October 26th!
Nominations must be submitted by noon on September 25th, 2024

Winning Tips:
- Consult knowledgeable people for accurate information concerning the candidate’s endeavors, competitive records, other activities, or areas of involvement.
- Compile the information received for each candidate and clip it to his or her specific nomination form.
- Ensure information is filled in accurately on forms in the spaces provided.
- Write a brief letter from the club stressing why this individual is such a worthy candidate.
