City of Vaughan Baseball and Softball Association (CVBA) donate $10,000 to Hospice Vaughan

On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Vaughn Vikings celebrated the efforts and accomplishments of the past year with their Annual Vaughan Vikings Awards Night at the Venetian Banquet Hall. It was truly a celebration!

They recognized players, coaches, umpires, and volunteers for their accomplishments and contributions during this past season. They thanked those who played a pivotal role in making the season and their league a success. They also announced our two scholarship winners. Three (3) individuals were also honoured as the initial inductees into the Vaughan Vikings Hall of Fame in a special announcement.

The evening concluded with a very special announcement of a $10,000 donation by the City of Vaughan Baseball and Softball Association (CVBA) to Hospice Vaughan. A cheque was presented to Hospice Vaughan Executive Director, Stephanie Karapita.

Stephanie Karapita expressed her gratitude for the donation, “Hospice Vaughan is very grateful to the City of Vaughan Baseball and Softball Association and its members for this generous donation which enables us to continue our vital work in supporting the residents of Vaughan during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. Thank you for your kindness.”

The donation is part of a plan to support local charities and foundations in Vaughan each year. The goal is to donate $10,000 annually to a local organization for 10 years. This was year two of that goal. Each year, the Board identifies a local charity or foundation to support, thus helping the recipients to continue to do their vital work in the community in which they work and live.

Vaughn Baseball continues to view its role as not just a youth sports league, but a member of the community. They have always supported charitable initiatives in the community, and this continues that commitment. It also speaks to the values of caring and generosity of our membership.
