OBA Announces Updated Organizational Structure to Enhance Service, Support, and Program Delivery

Cambridge, ON – Baseball Ontario is pleased to announce an updated organizational structure designed to strengthen operational excellence, improve member support, and advance the development of our sport across the province. These changes reflect our commitment to providing efficient service, high‑quality programming, and a safe, inclusive environment for athletes, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and partners.

“This restructure is an important step in strengthening Baseball Ontario’s ability to serve our members,” said Ed Quinlan, President and Chair of HR. “By aligning our operations, development functions, and customer service teams under a more efficient and collaborative model, we are improving responsiveness, elevating program delivery, and ensuring we have the right structure in place to support the continued growth of baseball in Ontario.”

Under the refreshed organizational model, Baseball Ontario’s staff is aligned into four key streams reporting to the Executive Director: Safe Sport & Integrity, Sport Development, Partnerships & Communications, and Baseball Operations & Programs. This modernized framework strengthens collaboration, enhances internal accountability, and improves member‑facing support across the province.

Safe Sport & Integrity Officer

Baseball Ontario remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, fairness, and participant protection. Reporting directly to Mary-Ann Smith, Erika Marini, Safe Sport & Integrity Officer, leads this stream, overseeing Safe Sport policy implementation, integrity processes, education, and compliance. Erika’s work ensures organization‑wide alignment with provincial and national Safe Sport expectations.

Sport Development Officer

To accelerate grassroots growth, strengthen the participant pathway, and support long‑term sport sustainability, Baseball Ontario has formalized the Sport Development stream, reporting to Mary‑Ann Smith. The role of Sport Development Officer is currently vacant and in the process of being filled. Once appointed, this position will lead system‑wide program expansion, community outreach, and development priorities across Ontario.

Partnerships & Communications Strategist

Reporting directly to Mary‑Ann Smith, Ryan Harrison, Partnerships & Communications Strategist, leads communication initiatives, partner engagement, outreach strategies, and province‑wide storytelling. This dedicated stream strengthens external relationships and ensures consistent, clear, and proactive communication with members, partners, and the broader baseball community.

Baseball Operations & Programs Officer

Baseball Ontario is proud to announce the promotion of Kaira Bates to Baseball Operations & Programs Officer reporting directly to Mary-Ann Smith. Kaira now provides leadership across program operations, registration processes, insurance and direct member services, ensuring efficient delivery and a consistent experience for participants and associations.

Reporting to Kaira are: Enza Finnie, Baseball Operations Strategist; Michelle Brooks, Customer Service Specialist; and Rita Dupon, Customer Service Specialist. This unified operational structure enhances workflow coordination, shortens response times, and strengthens the quality and consistency of Baseball Ontario’s programs and services.

Baseball Ontario’s updated structure strengthens our ability to respond to member needs, modernize systems, and deliver high‑impact programs that support athletes, officials, participants and volunteers at every level of participation across the province.
