Ontario Completes Perfect Run to Capture 18U National Championship Gold

FORT MCMURRAY, AB – Ontario is back on top of the national podium.

The Mississauga North Tigers, representing Ontario, completed a perfect run at the 2026 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship with an 11–1 victory over Alberta in Sunday evening’s gold-medal game at Legacy Dodge Field.

The championship victory capped a dominant 6–0 tournament for Ontario, which outscored its opponents 56–7 over six games.

Ontario entered Championship Sunday as the top seed in Pool A following an undefeated preliminary round that included victories over New Brunswick, British Columbia, host Alberta and Alberta.

In the semifinal, Ontario faced Prince Edward Island, the tournament’s only other undefeated team. The Tigers delivered another strong performance, holding P.E.I. to just one run in a 4–1 victory to earn their spot in the national championship game.

Alberta advanced to the final with a 10–2 semifinal victory over British Columbia, setting up a rematch with Ontario after the Tigers earned a 4–2 victory in their preliminary-round meeting on Saturday.

With a national championship on the line, Ontario left little doubt.

The Tigers built an 11–1 lead, with the championship-clinching run ending the game under the tournament’s mercy rule and officially securing 18U National Championship gold for Ontario.

The gold medal returns Ontario to the top of the 18U national podium after earning silver at the 2025 championship.
